Duergar Pure 20 Dragonlord TWF DPS
20
Description
Hey all, I'm back again with a new build, this time a TWF dragonlord. Let's get right into it.
The choice of Duergar seems odd, especially considering that means no Eladrin or Aasimar. However, this build takes advantage of a unique part of the Duergar tree. Dragonlord gets +2 critical multiplier, but no range. Duergar gives crit range with warhammers, dwarven waraxes, and heavy picks. Because of this, playing a Duergar Dragonlord allows you to get +2 multi and +1 range with warhammers, this build's weapon of choice. That's the basis of the race choice; let's talk about the rest.
The reason for TWF is because of the sunder abilities. IYKYK.
The reason for warhammers is not only because of Duergar, but also because of the plethora of powerful leveling and endgame warhammers. Nightforge hammer and the CITW warhammer are goats for leveling, and at endgame, Audion and Pestle are arguably the most powerful weapons in the game, period.
Duergar also has some other advantages. First off, the race gives the most to hit/damage out of any race in the game: 10. That is an insane amount of damage for the race to give. Duergar also look good, which is a bonus. Duergar is also a str/con race, which are the only stats we care about. Overall, Duergar is a no-brainer pick for this build. It gives everything you could possibly want, and more.
I don't think I need to explain the enhancements. It's just standard pure Dragonlord. Of special note, the Dragonlord capstone is actually a sunder, meaning this build gets 4. It is also AoE, so you get a giant AoE nuke.
Epic Destinies are interesting, as the usual choice would be for t5/mantle LD. I decided to go t5/mantle DC because that gets the law damage, more double strike, more defense (hamp, fortification, etc), as well as the very powerful sunder evil ability. With sunder evil, everytime you use improved sunder (which you get in this tree, that saves a feat!), you debuff mobs AC by 20% Not flat 20, 20%. That's a huge boost to you and your party. I also decided to go for Quick Cutter for more AoE. While the Fatesinger strike is more single-target DPS, the rest of the Fury tree is better.
As for playstyle, use the sunders in succession to animation-cancel and do big damage. Like all dragonlords, use the roar to CC mobs first before quick cutter/cleaves. Cruel cut is interesting because on low difficulties, if the mobs don't resist the con damage due to an epic ward, they will lose 100+ con and be helpless. Treat this as a bonus rather than a strategy. Cruel cut/slaughter are mainly for the melee power boosting, rather than their damage (though slaughter does lots of damage if you crit). This build is light on gear swaps/boosts. You want ideally:
yugo pot (str)
rem pot (str)
titan's strength
madstone boots
prowess swap
spell absorb
skills swaps
Good luck with the gear, as usual

well, there is more to it than that...
So you first state: "The reason for TWF is because of the sunder abilities. IYKYK." Then you state: "As for playstyle, use the sunders in succession to animation-cancel and do big damage." Was there a reason to try and be coy in the first sentence about Sunder animations?
